Understanding the 9 Selectable Ignition Curves

Ignition timing affects when the spark fires relative to piston movement. Installation & Important Warnings

On an AC CDI system, ignition energy is supplied by the engine's charging/exciter circuit. A visually similar 6-pin DC CDI is not an electrical substitute. This version is AC CDI only. The supplied CG 6-pin wiring illustration serves as a shared connector reference for AC and DC configurations. For this AC model, terminal 6 must receive power from the stator exciter coil, not battery +12V DC. The terminal-side diagram identifies terminal 1 as pickup/trigger signal, terminal 2 as ignition coil output, terminals 3 and 4 as grounds, and terminal 5 as kill-switch/engine-stop input. Check orientation and actual harness assignments; both ground terminals must be connected according to the supplied product reference. Do not connect AC and DC power supplies simultaneously, and do not feed DC supply into this AC-only CDI. Turn off the vehicle and disconnect the power before installation. Verify ground, pickup/pulse signal, ignition coil connection and the harness pinout against your original CDI. Incorrect wiring may result in no-start conditions or component damage; consult a qualified mechanic if the configuration is uncertain.
